Lesson plan on SAMR model
SAMR
In todays lesson, we went through the SAMR model. This model is used to assess how deeply the technology is being integrated in the education. The SAMR model is a framework used in education to analyze how technology is integrated into teaching and learning. It stands for Substitution, Augmentation, Modification, and Redefinition. These categories represent different levels of sophistication in how technology is used, with each level building on the previous one.
Lesson Title: Exploring Landforms
Subject: Social StudiesGrade Level: 4
Objective: - Students will be able to identify at least 4 types of landforms after the session.
- draw at least 2 different landforms without any aid form pictures or friends.
- know 2 benefits from any landforms they choose.
Materials:
- Pictures or diagrams of various landforms (e.g. mountains, valleys, rivers, plains)
- projector
- Google Earth
Engage:
Begin the lesson by showing students a picture of a mountain and ask them to describe what they see. Encourage students to think about the shape, size, and features of the landform. Discuss with the class what they already know about different landforms.

Explore:
Divide students into small groups and provide each group with a different landform to research. Encourage students to use Google Earth or other mapping software to explore the landform and gather information about its location, size, and unique features. Students should work together to collect data and take notes on their findings.
Explain:
Bring the class back together and have each group present their chosen landform to the rest of the class. Students should explain the characteristics of the landform, its significance, and any interesting facts they discovered during their research. Facilitate a discussion on how different landforms shape the Earth's surface.
Elaborate:
Challenge students to create a drawing showcasing their understanding of landforms. In their presentations, students should include images, maps, and key information about their assigned landform. This activity allows students to deepen their knowledge and practice their presentation skills.
Evaluate:
Assess student understanding through their group presentations, participation in discussions, and completion of the presentation. Use Exit ticket activity to evaluate their ability to identify and describe different landforms accurately. Provide feedback to students on their presentations and encourage them to reflect on what they have learned.

SAMR Integration:
- Substitution: Using Google Earth as a substitute for traditional maps allows students to explore landforms in a more interactive and engaging way.
- Augmentation: Creating digital presentations enhances student learning by incorporating multimedia elements and encouraging collaboration.
